Senior portraits are changing
Coonrod Photography is Quincy's second oldest portrait studio. We recognize that Senior Portraits are different now than they were even a few years ago... We also recognize that:
- In a lot of ways, we are definitely "Old School".
- Chet is definitely NOT as cute as a lot of newer, younger photographers who are just starting out.
But if Old School" means that we are in business for the long run, and that we know what we are doing, then... we're good with that.
So now that we've got that out of the way, we can’t avoid this question any longer:
“Are Senior Portraits a thing of the past?”
Well, we've been doing them for over thirty years, but does that mean that you don’t need them anymore? Just because something has stood the test of time is not a good reason to throw it out.
Not that long ago, everyone just automatically got a senior portrait package with a whole bunch of wallets…
Today, your “senior portraits” might be on someone’s phone or on Facebook (if you do a lot of scrolling). But what if that phone gets lost? Or freezes up? What if something new comes along and today’s Facebook becomes tomorrow’s MySpace?
Here's the thing...
Senior Portraits are for Seniors… but the truth is, they're also (maybe more so) for Mom.
Senior Portraits are the last memory of youth – before the Senior goes off to college, or out into the world, to become their own person… Mom still has that precious memory of their little boy who is now a man, that little girl who is now a woman.
Maybe the days when you needed two hundred wallets to trade with your friends are gone – like we said, most “friend” pictures are online now. But a tiny image on your phone can never replace the brilliance and beauty of a real portrait image, printed and framed for display in the home. Hundreds of “fish-face” close-ups on Facebook will be forgotten in a few months, but a wonderful album of creative images, or a beautiful Wall Portrait – created by an expert – is a timeless treasure that will literally last beyond a single lifetime.

- You must love the finished portraits. If they aren't everything you had hoped for, you may have them remade to your liking, or again, you pay nothing.
